Yummy & Easy - Gotta love that!

I've had a few friends asking about recipes - how do you know what to cook, where do you get the recipes, etc...so I've decided to post them here.

Made this last night (have made it several times) -- super yummy, juicy chicken!!

"Silly Mommy"

My 3 year old informed me this morning that "if you put the cheesesticks (string cheese) up too high in the fridge, little people can't reach them, Silly Mommy". She already thinks she's smarter than me.

Heard a Brad Paisley song this morning "Anything Like Me"
"It is say to say I'm gonna get my payback if he's anything like me".... Yup, I'm gettin' my payback because she's just like me!

Results Are In!

Taylor's swine flu test was negative! Thank God!

Test Results

We are sitting at home waiting for a call from the doctor's office. Taylor has already been diagnosed with strep, but seems to be feeling better. We are waiting on a call about swine flu...hope they call soon and that the results are negative!

One Day I will be a Grandma...

What started out as a sweet, innocent conversation quickly brought Cal to tears yesterday at HEB. She was helping me at the grocery store and said "I'm a big helper, right Mommy?" I told her that she was the biggest helper ever. She then commented that she was going to be a grown-up when she got taller. I teased her and said "Oh Cal, Mommy doesn't want you to be a grown-up, because then I will be old." She had such a look of shock and horror and said "You'll be a Grandma??" I said that yes, one day I'll be a Grandma. She began to cry her little eyes out right there in the store. She then cried any time she thought about it for the rest of the day. She kept repeating "I don't want you to be a Grandma."

I have no idea why this was so traumatic -- she adores all 3 of her Grandmas~I found this whole situation hilarious and really had a hard time not laughing in front of her.

Oh the dramatic life of little girls!!

Gotta Get Organized and Saying No

Okay, I've got a lot going on. I'm a member of several community organizations, my kids are involved in things, etc - we are busy people - obviously that's where I got the title for my blog :)

I have decided that we are going to be organized by the time school starts (Aug 20). I know that if I'm not, life will be crazy (in a bad way)! Yesterday, I cleaned out my 3 year old's closet. That is a major step in the right direction!

Today, I'm going to meet with Heather and get the Sally Foster stuff rolling....another check on my list - WAHOO - feeling good :)

Crazy Friends

Several of my "mommy" friends claim to be going crazy. One of my friends states that she is one step away from the local mental hospital at any given moment. I don't think that's true, but it sure makes me feel better to know I'm not the only crazy one. I love her more when she tells me that.

So much to do, so little time

So, the girls are out of town this week...awesome! I love them so very much, but the quiet has been great! I am looking forward to their return on Sunday, but in the meantime, I have huge plans. Fast forward to today...haven't gotten much done, but am currently working on the 3 year old's closet. It is amazing how much stuff (CRAP) they have! I'm hoping that she won't notice how much is missing.

The cake that Mommy made...

Okay, here's the cake that Mommy made. My first experience with fondant. I'm darn proud of myself. Considering that I have no natural talents and am completely self taught (using Google and various parenting websites) I think I did a pretty good job. Because 1 child has a life-threatening food allergy, I've had to learn how to make pretty desserts...this is not something I EVER thought I could do and I have to say that I am improving. Maybe by the time Cal gets married...I can make her wedding cake - HA - that's a lofty goal!

Well here goes nothing...

My first post...

I love reading blogs, have for a while now. It is interesting to read about people and their lives and realize that there are so many people out there like me. People who are busy, people who struggle with various things, people who are wondering where the time has gone...

About us: my husband is an attorney, we've been together for 10+ years and he can still make me laugh. I know that's why we are still together, he can make me laugh at the silliest things.

We have 2 girls. One just turned 8! When in the world did she go from that sweet baby we brought home yesterday to an almost teenager?? I bought a book to help me to talk to her about "growing up" and I have no idea where to start!

Our youngest daughter is 3 1/2 and lives life to the fullest! She is 100% always. My husband always says "If Callie loves you, you have never been more loved. If she's mad at you-watch out!" She's a small version of me and I have a really hard time disciplining her because I "get" her. I'm the same way! Cal has a life threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts. Obviously this is a major focus for our lives. I read labels everywhere I go - I have to, people who do not live this every day often misread the ingredients. I find myself trying to explain it to people, but some don't seem to get it. You have to read every label every time - the tiniest bit of nuts could kill her. I'm trying to balance between keeping people informed and keeping Cal safe and not making my 8 year-old into a freak. She's scared to look at peanut butter. Ah, but we'll continue on that saga later.

Tomorrow we are having a spa slumber party for Taylor. I am supposed to make a cake with all her friends sleeping in sleeping bags. HA! Oh, my sweet Taylor thinks her mommy can do anything, but I am so far short of handling this challenge. Will post pics tomorrow - pray that it does not look too bad.

That's all I have time for now.
